Ain't Capitalism Great

The DRM walls are coming down. EMI and Apple announced today that they would be selling DRM free music dowloads for $1.29. Even better, the file sizes will be bigger than the Apple standard which, in my humble opinion, is too small.

Everyone hates Apple DRM. "Why should I be restricted from using music I purchased anyway I please" ask most consumers. There's no good answer to that, and the market is responding. Expect the other music distributors to be forced into following suit.

And yes, when I heard rumors of this announcement over the weekend, I thought it was an April Fools joke. Not so lame after all.
