Ken Burns Does WW II

Next September Ken Burns will be out with a new documentary. This one is on World War II.

Although I recognize Burns' obvious talent, I've never been a big fan. Too PC for me. Things like the fact that in Jazz, white jazz musicians were studiously ignored. You have to try to not include white jazz greats in the mix.

Anyway, Burns was on Fresh Air marketing the show well in advance of release. He described how they went to four towns and interviewed veterans and their families. But the most interesting thing for me is that they chose Mobile, Alabama and interviewed the family and friends of Eugene Sledge. Apparently Burns was as impressed with With the Old Breed as I.

Maybe I'll get over the PC stuff now.
